The Parrilla or grill is by far the most popular for meat lovers. Just about anywhere is going to serve you top quality beef, but we recommend two ways of trying the experience.
In Puerto Madero there is a string of nice restraurants. Just about all of them have a grill and each is great (we have eaten at all of them). However, it is much cheaper to eat at a lesser known parilla and we recommend that you go to one that you might find off the beaten path.
It is a gauranteed experience and you will have to practice your Spanish.
Recommended Tavern/Restaurant
| Baviera - Located at Juramento and Ciudad de la Paz in Belgrano. |
| A low key, low lit tavern, this restraurant provides a perfect atmosphere for an afternoon or evening drink. The Bavarian feel attracts friends, families, couples and even those finishing up a day's work. The Baviera offers its own selection of beers, including blondes, belgian, brown, cream stout, stout, imperial stout as well as a decent selection of wiskies. Several meat and cheese platter combinations can also be found here. This is not a place to find turists and you may feel like a real traveller at Baviera. | |
| Van Koning - Located on Baez 325 in Las Cañitas . |
Van Koning is a great place to meet up with friends for a beer and some good food. It has a Dutch feel and boasts a large variety of imported beers. If you want to try some of argentina's micro-brews, this is also a great place.
| La Chacra - Located on Av. Cordoba 941 Downtown. |
Like the sign says, it is the most typical grill in Buenos Aires. We love this place and have found that it cooks all of its meat with care. The flavor from chinchulìn to riñones to bife de lomo is cooked to perfection.
| Pizzeria Angelin - Located on Córdoba 5270 Palermo. |
This pizzeria is worth the wait. Service is slow, but trust us, it is some of the best pizza in the city. Walk in and you'll find a small ordering area for take-out. Keep left and walk all the way to the back where you can ask for a table. You'd hardly know they had dine in service if you didn't venture back, but you'll find families, friends and photos of all the famous folks that have visited the restaurant over the years. The "Canchera" is their largest size of pizza and will feed up to five. If you order the Canchera, it is only pizza with tomato sauce, so be sure to order your toppings along with the Canchera size. |
